The Challenge
At the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, a large Oil and Gas business was suddenly faced with huge numbers of cancellations by airlines, as routes were cut and borders closed. This led to them having to process in excess of $10million in cancellations over the course of just a few weeks. This resulted in a data mess, which made it all but impossible to see what value of tickets remained live, which airlines they were with and which TMCs might be holding what, let alone any element of prioritisation on reuse.
The Solution
PredictX developed our Asset Recovery and Tracking System (ARTS) to handle precisely this issue. ARTS ingests data from GDS/Post-trip activity, corporate cards, unused ticket logs (even those held in Excel) and aligns them with each other, enabling the travel manager to be able to see exactly what remains unaccounted for and who the beneficiaries are.
The Impact
This implementation enabled the company to:
- Gain a handle on their unused tickets
- Attain a recovery rate well in excess of 97%, versus an estimated industry-wide recovery rate of less than 90%.
